Andrew Wasylyk: The Paralian

Summerhall Festival - The Dissection Room

Scottish musician and producer Andrew Wasylyk accepted an extended residency invite from arts centre and historic house Hospitalfield, in Arbroath, Scotland to create new music for their restored 19th-century Erard Grecian harp. During Wasylyk's five-month sojourn, ideas were inspired by the building's unique relationship with the looming North Sea horizon and developed using the house's original grand piano and field recordings gathered during study trips to neighbouring Seaton Cliffs nature reserve and Bell Rock Lighthouse, the world's oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse. The resulting album The Paralian was released in April to rave reviews.
