Me, Myself and Mum (15) - film screening
Cinema on Sunday
Summerhall - Red Lecture Theatre
A cheerful and inventive comic confessional about French screen and theatre star Guillaume Gallienne’s upbringing, his relations with his mother, and his eventual embracing of his inner heterosexual after growing up as a femaleidentified boy whom everyone assumes is gay. Gallienne plays himself from school-age child to awkward adolescent to young man. He also doubles up in drag to play his own mother, often acting opposite himself in smoothly blended split-screen scenes. This is an intelligent but unashamedly crowd-pleasing adaptation of his hit stage play for which he won a Molière award.
