Becoming Animal & Plastic Man

Edinburgh Science Festival

Summerhall - Red Lecture Theatre

A nature film with a difference, Becoming Animal traces how we sense the 'more than human' world. An inspired collaboration between filmmakers Emma Davie and Peter Mettler, Becoming Animal is a different kind of nature film, tracing how we sense the 'more than human' world and exploring how it also senses us. An immersive audiovisual quest, watch as influential environmental philosopher David Abram journeys to the Grand Teton Park in North America to explore how the written word and technology has affected how we see.

Preceded by short film Plastic Man by Yulia Kovanova. Breaking from daily reality, a man transforms into Plastic Man – armed with chemicals, ready to set landscape on fire. Is he the destroyer of Nature, or the voice of its resilience?
