Army @ the Fringe - Drill Hall
‘The [British] army has always struggled to recruit ethnic minorities. There are entrenched issues and it is not just about racism’ (Belissa Green, 2016). The wives of Commonwealth soldiers share stories of war from their perspective. Tima (Commonwealth veteran) shares her experience of being a serving British soldier in Iraq. Heather describes how her husband survived a fatal ambush in Afghanistan. Cath explains how she felt she was losing the connection to her Highland heritage and Gaelic language due to Regimental restructuring. The play is based on interviews with armed forces wives.
